Playboy Playmate Kimberly Conrad ended up with more than she bargained for when she became a centerfold -- much more. Not only did she wind up being a Playmate of the Year, she also landed that most unlikely of titles -- Mrs. Hugh Hefner.
Kimberly was born on August 6, 1963 in Decatur, Alabama. She moved with her family to Reno, Nevada at the age of four, then to Vancouver, British Columbia when she was twelve. It was while in high school in West Vancouver that Kimberly first started modeling, appearing in local ads and doing a bit of runway modeling as well. She continued modeling throughout her early twenties, her leggy 5'9" frame and luscious 36-24-36 figure proving more than most photographers could resist. Eventually, local Vancouver photog Ken Honey suggested that Kimberly send some pics in to Playboy.
Soon Kimberly found herself flying down to Los Angeles to shoot her pictorial as Miss January 1988. She was then voted Playmate of the Year for 1989, and it was while staying at the Mansion for her photo shoot that she first got close to Hefner. Despite the big gap in their ages, Kimberly and Hugh found that they shared lots in common, from their Southern Methodist background to their love of art and movies. The couple fell in love and were married on July 1, 1989.
Kimberly and Hugh had two children together, the boys Marston and Cooper. They spent the next decade together, raising their children while Kimberly devoted her spare time to being a spokeswoman for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Sadly, their age difference ended up driving a wedge between them, and Kimberly filed for divorce in 1998 on the grounds of 'irreconcilable differences.' The couple were divorced, and Kimberly drifted into a life that was a bit more out of the spotlight. She did make the tabloids in 1999 when she dated aging rocker Rod Stewart, but for the most part has remained a private person. She continues to focus on raising her two sons and on her charity work.
