| Greetings and salutations dear readers, welcome to the post AVN Awards, pre-Super Bowl edition of the Pipeline. (What have the two in common you ask? Well, can you think of two more over-hyped events?) To keep with the theme, I'm going to turn this month's column over to our crack team of broadcasters. (Using 'crack' and 'broad' in the same sentence might make people think I am actually channeling Kid Vegas.) Let's turn it over to our man in the booth, Keith Jack-Off.
KEITH- Whoa Nelly, Roger! We have a real barn burner this month. There is so much electricity in the air, you can see Ron Jeremy's back hair standing on end from here. Let's just hope he doesn't put an eye out with that stuff. This promises to be hotter than Texas Tabasco. Let's go down to Dan 'DD' Driveby for the pre-game injury report.
DAN- Thank you Keith. We've got a couple of major injuries to report. You always hate to see this sort of thing happen right before the big game.
HIV has once again made it's presence felt in the industry. This time, relative newcomer, Nikki Lae has tested positive. The Tampa based performer was in Las Vegas for the CES show when she tested positive before working with Ed Powers.
Nikki is said to have worked quite a bit at the recent East Coast Video Show, however at this time, no one is certain if she was exposed during those scenes or in the time between ECVS and CES. The usual post test finger pointing has already begun. Am I the only one who will be glad when certain people in this business stop posturing and cut the shit?
Porn mourns the loss of one it's most beloved perverts this month as Bruce Seven died on January 15, 2000. Seven suffered a stroke some years back and has been seen sparingly of late. Known as an innovator, Seven churned out hit movies with Ginger Lynn for Vivid in the 80's, helping to put the fledgling company on the map. Known for bringing a raw edge to his sex, especially to lesbian scenes, Seven set many of the trends porn's biggest names follow today.
He would later influence John Stagliano and become instrumental in shaping some of porn's strongest companies in the 90's. Working with long time friend Bionca, Seven brought us the successful 'Takin' it to the Limit' series which combined kink with incredibly well shot sex.
(On a personal note, my first five reviews were of the first five volumes of this great series.) He will be sorely missed.
DAN- Sad news indeed Keith, but not the only story to be sure. Let's pass it off to 'Lil Mike Rashad.
LIL MIKE- Thanks Dan. You know, I was talking with Michael Jordan earlier today and he said that….
KEITH- What does Michael Jordan have to do with the Porn Bowl pre-game?
LIL' MIKE- You'll have to ask Kylie about that Keith. It's my job to let everyone know that Michael Jordan said that the big roster moves in porn are the real story here.
A no show at the Extreme Associates booth for the CES show, Ashlyn Gere is apparently no longer a part of Team Extreme.
Unconfirmed sources point the finger at company executives who allegedly put themselves up at the posh Venetian Hotel, while assigning contract girls rooms at the Gold Nugget.
More reliable sources point to problems with Ashlyn's husband, Lane Parker. 'He's an idiot." Said a source. "You've seen his fucking movies, they're shit." Regardless of the reason, Gere's comeback will apparently continue elsewhere. And what ever happened to "Rubber?"
Also on the move is Kendra Jade. Not long after signing on as LGI's first contract girl, the one time Cream Girl is now a free agent. No word yet on where she will land or what is to become of her web site, but sources point to a blow up at CES as the cause of the break up. I tried to get a comment from Kendra, but every time I went by the LGI booth, she was nowhere to be found. Hmmmm, a roster opening at Extreme and Kendra on the market. Anyone wonder if Jasmin St. Claire and Kendra could co-exist?
While some rosters are being trimmed, Wicked added to theirs this month. At a press reception in Las Vegas, Wicked announced and introduced their four new contract girls, Devinn Lane, Temptress, Alexa Rae and Meridian. Porn fans should already know Temptress from her amazing work over the past year and a half. Ditto on Alexa Rae who has been lighting things up in Wicked Films for a few months.
Devinn may be a relative newcomer, but the one time Penthouse Pet has got the sort of amazing looks and killer bod that put that other company's contract girls to shame. With these new girls on board, Wicked seems ready poised for another big year.
LIL MIKE- I have to run up and get Michael Jordan a hot dog Keith, so let's go to the field for the coin toss now.
REFEREE- All right folks, what I have here is your average silver dollar. I'll toss it in the air and the captain of the visiting team will call it.
From the is she or isn't she department comes this bit of Jenna news. With rumors of yet another retirement flying like passes in a Rams/Vikings game, no one seems to have the full scoop on whether Jenna is in or out. She made an appearance at the press reception for the new Wicked Girls and all seemed fine.
However, when asked how if the new quartet of contract babes expanded the Wicked roster to seven or eight, a source said "that depends on who you ask and what day it is." (Of course, it could be six since Missy was nowhere to be seen.)
KEITH- Whoa Nelly, that's something you don't see every day, a coin landing on its side. I told you we were in for something special this afternoon. Just listen to that standing room only crowd go crazy as the teams take the field.
Las Vegas was packed wall to wall with porn stars and porn fans for the annual Consumer Electronics Show. Porn's best and brightest turned out for the four day event at the Sands Expo Center. For full coverage and plenty of photos see my CES Report. For juicy tidbits, read on.
The long awaited first issue of XXXGen magazine is finally on the shelves. With the lovely and recently retired Janine gracing the cover, the new mag is packed with porn stars.
Insiders, Jim Gunn, Mike South and Delaney Daniels all lend their talented pens to the premier issue. More importantly, photo spreads of the XXXGen Top Twenty and Kendra Jade will give you plenty to do in between the intense reading. Of course, I know all of you are going to grab it just to read the reviews of Lord of Asses 2, The Shark and Plaid. Fans who stopped by the XXXGen booth were treated to a healthy dose of Cherry Mirage and Heaven Leigh.
Also on hand was Delaney Daniels who was busy showing off the trailer for her recently completed directorial debut, "Pussy Control."
KEITH- What a first half we just witnessed. I've never seen two teams go at it that hard. It looked to me like there might have been some seriously bad blood flowing down there. Let's take it to the sidelines and our resident hostility expert, Roger T. Pipe for the full report.
Bad blood hardly describes the sort of ill will that was being tossed around at CES this year. At the center of much of the controversy is Alisha Klass. Starting with some comments made in Mike South's gossip column in XXXGen magazine, Ms. Klass was clearly in for a long weekend. Contrary to the reported rumors, she and Seymore Butts are not splittsville, but are in fact, engaged. She also denied rumors she is under doctor's orders to cut back on the anal sex.
Alisha found herself on the receiving end of some uncalled-for barbs as well. At the AVN Awards, Alisha was slammed repeatedly and even heckled while announcing the Best New Starlet Award. The worst jabs came at the hands of Al Goldstein. Mixed into his ridiculous rant was this gem, "The best defense OJ could have used is Alisha Klass." (For more of Al's idiocy see my AVN Report.) With comments like this, who can blame Ms. Klass for being miffed?
Perhaps Alisha can use Al's words as her defense should she decide to drop a cap in that has been windbag.
The fights at CES were not all verbal however. An undetermined conflict between XXX performer Xtacee and the people at Anabolic erupted into a cat fight between the fiery pornstar and the co-owner of the porn mega power. Some blood was spilled and Xtacee was ejected from the show floor.
Of the incident, Anabolic owner Christopher Alexander said "I think her actions speak for themselves. She was behaving like an ignorant ghetto whore." Don't expect X to be doing any Anabolic movies in the future, unless they can talk her into doing the 'Rough Sex' line.
Proving that even nice guys can get caught up in the fracas, yours truly did not escape unscathed.
Rumors as to exactly how that big gash on my forehead came to be have ranged from the improbable to the ludicrous, but the whole story will be revealed in the CES Report. Want a hint? Well, it could have been a ticked off starlet, maybe an angry director or maybe Mrs. Rog just got tired of waiting for me to take her to Bingo.
KEITH- Thanks for that report Rog.
I wouldn't worry too much about that cut, it makes you look a little more battle worn. Speaking of battle worn, some of the faces and bodies on that CES seem a little long in the tooth, but at least one raw rookie has been turning some heads, isn't that right Rog?
That's right Keith, the folks at CES got their first look at a brand new star who is already well on her way to bigger and better things.
The six foot plus blonde, who calls herself Trinity was brought into the fold by Mike South and Dirty Bob and has already worked with the likes of South, Rodney Moore and Sean Michaels. Her first week in the industry will be chronicled in an upcoming article, and all reports are that she is an incredible performer. (And remember sports fans, it was Rog who told you to watch draft day sleepers like Samantha Stylle, Cherry and Layla Jade.)
Making a courageous comeback is another way to get noticed and that's just what Tricia Deveraux has done. Two years after testing positive for HIV, Tricia made an appearance at the Evil Angel booth, in part to promote the new scene she shot with HIV positive boyfriend John Stagliano. Looking great and attracting a huge crowd, Tricia looks as comfortable in the spotlight as she ever was.
KEITH- Well as the final gun sounds and both teams make their back to the locker room, we are reminded that in the end, this game is all about winners and losers. Winners get the post game praise and losers get to sit alone in the showers.
After seven years of going home empty handed, Serenity finally walked away with an AVN Award. In winning Best Actress in a Video, the Blonde One finally has some hardware to help decorate her mantle.
(She can put it next to the 1998 Rog Reviews Female Star of the Year.) This award is much overdue and could only have been more appropriate had it been joined by a much deserved Performer of the Year Award. Oh well, there's always next year, right?
Finally, let me transition from Super Bowl theme to Valentine's Day.
Love is in the air all over the place. Porn engagements involving Jill Kelly, Julian, Sana Fey, David Christopher, Alisha Klass and Seymore seem to prove that you can find love in this crazy, mixed up business.
Joining all the porn folks for that long walk down the aisle are some of my fellow porn critics. Taking a break from their busy schedules reviewing DVDs, four of the critics will be making the plunge in the next six weeks.
Erica Marshall, Natalie Dawn, Nick Nite and Spyke are all getting ready for lives of wedded bliss. (No, they aren't all marrying each other, that would be illegal.) Please join me in wishing them all the very best.
And with that, I leave you readers, wishing you the very best. Enjoy the Super Bowl, and say it with me, The RAMS win the title. (Ever think you could say that without laughing?) Do something nice for your special someone for V Day, who knows, it just might help you get lucky.
