Roger T. Pipe There was a long time ago.
Brother Love I did not know that. I know that there is a gay black line called “Brotha Love” but that’s not me. I apologize for that confusing name.
Roger T. Pipe How did you come up with a moniker like that?
Brother Love Just to clarify, I’m not black. About ten years ago I was hanging out with a bunch of hippies from Sacramento. They were musicians, stoners and good friends. One of them would always say to me “How ya doing brother love” and that just stuck. It’s great because it’s perfect for this industry.
Roger T. Pipe Is there an R in your name?
Brother Love Yes there is.
Roger T. Pipe What companies do you shoot for and what are some movies we should check out?
Brother Love I shoot primarily for New Sensations and I have a variety of lines. The big one that I have is POV Fantasy. That is my baby because I have great freedom on those particular projects. A lot of directors don’t have that kind of freedom and up until the box, it is mine. I shoot it, I cast it, I design the box cover, I sit in on the editing, and I control the BTS. I have only myself and the girls to thank.
Roger T. Pipe This is genuine POV then, not something shot with people over your shoulder.
Brother Love That is true. Sometimes you do have to stretching things a bit. If you’re fucking a girl doggy style, aren’t both hands smacking her ass? Aren’t you spanking her with one hand pulling her hair with the other?
Roger T. Pipe There are a lot of POV lines out there, but yours is different in that it focuses on short set ups, costumes and the fantasy of the sex. Where did that come from?
Brother Love I spoke to Mike John a few years ago. Prior to that I was shooting for High Society’s teen lines. They required some sort of story in their POV movies involving the photographer. That is where that came from. I also try to be an individual and avoid the Mike John followers. Mike isn’t the original POV shooter, but everyone focuses on his stuff right now. He is the man and people follow him. I decided that I’m not a performer by Lexington Steele standards. I found that if I could create a fantasy then the girl would be the one leading the sex. A lot of guys in their personal life are the dominant partner, but it’s nice to let the girl run the show for a while.
Roger T. Pipe Have you run out of ideas for the fantasies yet?
Brother Love Not yet and it’s great because as girls come into my office, they give me ideas for new fantasies. I try to think of what would be sexy with each new girl. It’s important to get their input as well.
Roger T. Pipe Which of the POV Fantasy scenes is your favorite?
Brother Love The first one I shot with Sunny Lane is tough to beat. We both lost our cherries on the same day. That was my first directing gig and her first scene. She is a great girl and fun to work with. The ball thing threw her off, but she was willing to explore. I’m also into some water sports and she had fun with that. You can see a lot of that in the behind the scenes. She did pee on me though it’s not in the video. It’s in there and I felt it, but we were in cowgirl so the camera didn’t get it.
Roger T. Pipe Had you done other scenes as a performer?
Brother Love I had done things here and there. I was part of the fiasco that was “Sex Survivor.” I was new to the business, but right there I knew that I wasn’t a performer. I was aroused around the house, but if things were set up, I didn’t do well. I over dosed on Viagra and it was a mess.
Roger T. Pipe So you haven’t done a lot outside of the POV movies.
Brother Love I’d rather be a director and do POV stuff. Once in a while I may step in for a guy who is having a hard day. I did a stunt cock for one of Mr. Pete’s movies when a guy couldn’t perform. Other than that I could care less if I do scenes. I enjoy spending time with some of them off camera. I get to pick and choose with the POV movies anyway.
Roger T. Pipe You are married to someone in the business right?
Brother Love Yes. Christie Lee. She is a very cool girl. She’s changed a lot since the day I met her. I think she was just turning nineteen, was very fresh. I met her at her agent’s place and she started living with me. We hit it off and her agent was a real piece of shit. He was one of those guys who would take sixty percent so I decided to play Captain Save-A-Ho. I thought she was a real neat person and I wanted to help. I’ve been around long enough not to get jealous. We just had our two-year anniversary and next month we’re getting a divorce. We’re still great friends, but it’s time to part ways.
Roger T. Pipe How did you get into the industry?
Brother Love Like many people I got in by accident. I was a lazy bum with no direction. I tried going to school and nothing really hit me. There was nothing I liked to do. Eventually I had a girlfriend working in a strip club, she got me a job bartending there. I met a guy who was a photographer in the industry. He would tell me these Penthouse Forum stories that I thought were bullshit. One day he called me up with two new girls, Paisley Adams and some girl Chuck Martino was going out with, Jeannie Rivers. They were running around the apartment naked when I showed up. They were hugging on me and I knew that I had to get in.
Roger T. Pipe Did you know that you wanted to direct?
Brother Love My goal was to be a photographer. I was very naïve about the business. I took photography classes and went to work for Scott St. James. My goal was to work on my photography and get some layouts published in Hustler and Penthouse. I had no idea who difficult that was. By the time I got to the point where I had some stuff in Club and Cheri magazine, the internet really took over. Magazine subscriptions started to flounder. Earl Miller decided to seriously shoot for companies other than Penthouse. Everyone had their set photographers so I knew I had to cross over into porn. I knew the guys from Anabolic and I wanted to go to work for them. I got lucky because they moved from Venice to within a half a block of where I was. At that time I thought that Anabolic was the greatest thing in the world. Anyone who was a great director was either at Evil Angel or Anabolic. I got a job there and that’s how I got into video.
Roger T. Pipe What did you do there?
Brother Love I was Chris’ PA for about six months.
Roger T. Pipe How did you end up at New Sensations?
Brother Love About the same time I met Chris and Gregg I met Rene. I was dating a Hungarian girl named Trinity. She hated all of her agents and asked if I could rep her. I repped the girls for a while and that’s how I met Rene. When I had my falling out with Anabolic, he was really the only other person I knew. At that time I also met Shylar at New Sensations.
Roger T. Pipe How long ago was that?
Brother Love About three and a half years ago.
Roger T. Pipe So you’ve taken things kind of slow and aren’t directing ten movies a month.
Brother Love No. I see guys doing that now. That doesn’t work. You can’t fuck up in this business. If you bite off more than you can chew like I did with my management company, people know. Everyone knows each other. You may think that they hate each other, but they might have a business deal that you don’t know about. All someone has to do is pick up the phone and say “so and so sucks” or “so and so ripped me off” and you’re toast. What amazes me is that there is always someone waiting to get ripped off by someone who just ripped of someone else. Didn’t the Jordan Brothers do that?
Roger T. Pipe I don’t know.
Brother Love I don’t know them personally, but I heard around that they did that. They would get a twenty thousand dollar budget, shoot a three thousand dollar movie and pocket the rest. I’m sure that happens all the time. I didn’t want to burn my bridges so I waited until I was ready. The POV thing was right up my alley. I worked on how I wanted to shoot it and figuring out the composition. It was really the costumes that sold that line. We see it today. Anyone can have the same girl over and over in the same hotel room at waist high for the same scene. It’s boring.
Roger T. Pipe Do you have a list of women you really want to cast in that line?
Brother Love I have a type. The greatest thing about New Sensations is that they let me see that before I shoot. Scott’s idea is to shoot the fresh girls. Let someone like Jules Jordan shoot her when she’s already a porn star. I have a chance to see if a girl can carry a scene. I need a girl to be vocal and be real. If she isn’t then no matter how good looking she is, she won’t make it in my movie. We were trying to shoot Gianna with the huge boobs, but she was really dry. As amazing as those tits are, I can’t put her in my movie because she can’t carry the scene.
Roger T. Pipe If you could cast any five women in the next volume, contracts out the window, budgets out the window, who would you choose?
Brother Love Does the contract attitude go with the contracts? I’m not amused by beauty. If you’re a cunt then I’m not interested.
Roger T. Pipe OK, no attitude.
Brother Love To be honest, there really aren’t that many girls that I like. I’m struggling to put five and six together. Jenaveve Jolie would probably be one. She has fake boobs so that throws her off one of my lines, but I could create a theme around her no problem. There are nearly zero girls right now who I think could carry a scene. I tried to get Jenna Haze, but that’s not going to happen. If you know of anyone, please let me know.

Roger T. Pipe What the fuck? Please explain that.
Brother Love People who know me know that I have five or six fetishes, maybe more. One of my things is that I like to be peed on, any part of my body is fine. Brother Love That is part of it. One of the criticisms I got on the net was the fact that the first one had a lot of that in there. It became a part of the scenes that didn’t contribute to the fantasy.
Roger T. Pipe Would you ever do a line that focuses only on that act?
Brother Love I own a few websites that will soon have this kind of stuff up there. I want to make sure that I take advantage of something that I have to offer which is totally unique.
Roger T. Pipe What sort of reaction do you get from the girls when you try to tell them what you want?
Brother Love Most of the girls find it to be a turn on. It’s really cute when the girls just can’t quite do it as hard I want it.
Roger T. Pipe Have you had any girls who just can’t get it done?
Brother Love Allie Ray couldn’t do it. I could probably talk her into it now, but not then.
Roger T. Pipe Have you had a girl who really got into it?

Tim said that he had seen a bunch of tranny lines, but Joey’s was the best because he really loves what he shoots. That is why my ball stuff goes off well. I really like it and I talk to the people who really dig it. I know how to do it well.
Roger T. Pipe Do you think someone will try to copy what you’re doing?
Brother Love Sure. I’m certain Smash Pictures will. Don’t they copy everyone on everything? God bless them. If they can make money off it, more power to them. If they can find someone who will do it on camera then they can do it. Every stripper has a sub in their clientele. Getting them to do it on camera isn’t so easy though.
Roger T. Pipe Are you looking to expand beyond New Sensations?
Brother Love I love New Sensations and the way Scott has treated me. At the same time I don’t want to get locked into one company. I’m always looking for new opportunities.
Roger T. Pipe Are you under an exclusive contract for them?
Brother Love No. I would love to work for other companies. I think that the POV line is the most creative I can get there. Because of my particular fetishes it might take another company to run with those seriously. I would prefer to work for someone more than once a month and it would have to be a good family of people. That is what I have with Scott and what I love about New Sensations. I am always afraid of commitment. I got stuck at Anabolic for about eight months until I got fired. When I got fired, I had nowhere else to go. By keeping my options open at least I will have somewhere to go. I’m not talent. At least those guys can always find work somewhere else.
Roger T. Pipe Anything else we need to cover?
Brother Love I think that is pretty good.
