Starring: Who is Arlene Manhattan and where did she go? This sultry French actress (I think she's French) makes quite an impression in this forgotten golden oldie. Arlene plays Adrienne, a fetching blonde who opens the movie recalling all the people who used her during a life-altering visit to New York.

A real movie-movie that emphasizes the performances both in bed and out. It has a deliberate pace, plot twists, and genuine heart.

More romantic than nut-busting, women will find it especially satisfying as Adrienne is transformed from sexually naive to cynically carnal.

The plot actually works. After being dumped by her boyfriend in Paris, Adrienne heads for New York (thanks to a porn producer) where she meets sweet-talking Kevin James (giving one of his best performances), a street hustler who seduces Adrienne then pimps her. Later, she finds working with psychologist Vanessa Del Rio is no better. In one of the film's hottest scenes, Vanessa rooks her into joining an impromptu orgy with a sexually explosive patient.

It's a little slack in spots, and only for those who appreciate a slow hand behind the camera.

A 9. It deserves to be better remembered.
