This isn't exactly a comeback for Ashlyn Gere. After all, she made a number of movies for Extreme Associates. Her comeback there met with mixed reviews. On the one hand, she didn't look nearly as good as might have hoped. On the other hand, she fucked and sucked like never before. Now that she has moved over to VCA, her new movies are being directed by Veronica Hart who got to shoot Ginger Lynn and Marilyn Chambers as well. I'm not usually very happy with the movies that Hart shoots because she too often forgets that she is making porn. If I want a romance novel and lame soft core sex, I will watch those shitty late night cable piles of dung. Hopefully, Hart will take the head Gere showed at Extreme, make her look good and turn her loose. If that happens, then we could end up with a pretty good feature. Ashlyn starts the movie in a hospital and with the help of hypnosis, she goes back a ways.

She is a cop who works with a usual bunch of chauvinist dickheads and comes home to an empty apartment every night. She gets mostly undressed and opens her mail. There is a video tape in among the bills and junk mail. She pops it into the VCR and watches Kylie Ireland dominate a masked man. (Herschel Savage) She spanks him and makes him beg before she sucks his cock. The scene is rather dimply lit from some angles, but it's fairly hot I suppose. The pace is very slow, but it fits with what she is demanding of him. At least there is no slow motion here and she goes take a pretty good pounding during the doggy. After a brief anal, she lets him dump his load onto her face.

The next day at work, Ashlyn goes out on a call with Nick Manning. (His haircut makes him look like a greasy soap opera star instead of a cop.) He turns out to be a nice guy, but their lunch is interrupted by news of a dead dancer. The long and the short of it is that the dead girl is Kylie, she's a friend of Ashlyn's and the guy in the tape is her boss who she also had a fling with. They were friends from school and she is ordered to stay away from the case. Naturally, she heads down to the club and spies on a couple coming out. Steven St. Croix can't wait to get in the car with horny dancer Alex Foxe. She isn't the prettiest girl in the movie, so I don't mind the dim lighting so much. On the other hand, it might be nice if we could see some of the action the flick ends. They go through the motions in and around the car. After a lackluster fuck, he shoots a pretty good load onto her tits and face.

Following the case takes Ashlyn to the club where a lot more goes on than just the dancing. In the back room, Wanda Curtis is working on Mark Davis when Ashlyn comes in. (there is a dual identity thing going on here, but it?s not important to give away.) She joins Wanda, delivering a pretty good looking blowjob. Things get emotionally complicated for Ashlyn as she is rejected by Herschel and visited by Manning in the same night. After all that sex, you would think she would sleep soundly, but dreams keep bothering Ashlyn. In this one, she is back with Herschel, reluctantly giving him what he wants for his birthday. Apparently he asked to serve another woman. Kylie comes in with some black boots and Ashlyn doms her way through the scene. She barks out orders and makes Herschel worship Kylie slowly. This scene will please the fem-dom lovers and scare the shit out of the misogynist faction right out of their smoking jackets. It's another scene that could use a few more lights. Mood is one thing, but this is just ridiculous. There is good energy and I don't mind the dom edge to it, though it's Kylie's boots that I find most appealing.

The whole experience leaves Ashlyn in a jealous rage, perhaps pointing the finger at her for Kylie's murder. Savage and Bune go undercover at the strip club to further investigate. This leads to another back room three way with Wanda, Ashlyn and Herschel. The fact that she doesn't seem to mind performing in front of her boss and former lover might indicate that Ashlyn has a twin or a split personality. Tyce joins the party right around time that Wanda is getting Herschel's cock out of his pants. That leaves Gere free to swallow Tyce to the root with total ease. The camera moves back and forth between the two couples, with Ashlyn showing a lot better energy than Wanda. To make up for this, Wanda goes anal first, riding Herschel with her butt and taking it deep while smacking her own cheeks. She pulls off in time to jerk his load onto her tits. When the sex is over, they take Ashlyn into custody. This brings us back to where we started. As usual, there are some plot twists, some good ones even. There are a lot of things I like about this movie and I'm even willing to put it in my top five features so far this year. The story is pretty good and mostly well acted. Savage and Gere can handle dialog and even when it gets a little over the top, it is still watchable. Sexually, things could use a little work. Ashlyn carries most of the action and she does look better than in her Extreme movies. Still, between Ms. Gere, Ms. Ireland and Ginger, this is not a flick filled with young hotties. Kylie is turning in some of her best performances in some time these days, though the low lighting hurt both of her scenes. Ginger's scene is hot at the close of the movie and a couple of Ashlyn's trysts work as well. Wanda is mostly wasted and the Alex Foxe scene didn't work for me at all. Too often, the low lighting and shadows got in the way of the sex, but that's the style Hart was going for. (and yes, I know how difficult it is to light a scene this way, I just don't think it's worth the effort in the long run.) Ashlyn is back, again and doing her best to keep the energy up while managing to turn in a fine acting performance as well.
