I've seen this film touted in other sources as the best of the year, so when I picked it up, my expectations were high. With all the criticism Paul Thomas gets on the net (As opposed to the massive ass kissing he gets in AVN), it is easy to forget that once in a while he really hits one on the screws and gives us something really great to enjoy.

Things start out quickly, with sexy Tricia Deveraux stripping down to her thigh highs and heels for Tony Tedeschi. Scene breakdown:

The scene just kind of starts full throttle with no buildup, not even a word of dialogue. Even for the wham-bam-thank-you-Ma'am crowd, the scene is too short.

The scene takes place in a meat locker, complete with frozen sides of beef hanging in the background. Who Stephanie supposed to be in this scene? Another scene that starts too abruptly, though the temperature does get pretty hot.
Dyanna Lauren & Jon Dough play a husband and wife in a troubled marriage. In their coupling their hostility and desire intermingle -- could have been very erotic, but it falls short. Dyanna starts things off with a nice display of auto-eroticism; she's quite skilled at fingering her anus, though her long fingernails just made us cringe. Ouch! Interspersed with this is a hot scene with Melissa Hill and Toni Tedeschi, another husband-and-wife pairing. Melissa is scorching. She radiates an intensity that is very alluring and her sleek dancer-like physique is primed for hot sex.
The next scene shows Toni once again getting it on in his office, in a threesome with Tricia and Missy. Another scene which borders on being very hot, but annoyances get in the way. The background music shifts abruptly and strangely in a way that gives the scene an amateurish, sloppy feel. Still, the women look very sexy in their lingerie and go at it with enthusiasm, and Toni blindfolding Missy with his necktie adds a spicy touch.
The last sex scene in the flick features Dyanna with Steven St. Croix, eventually joined by Melissa. Long, bizarre dialogue precedes the sexing. We never could figure out exactly what this movie is about. Steven is the hunky grocery store guy that Dyanna and Melissa both lust after, but at the end of the flick it is revealed that he's some kind of supernatural being -- the Devil or a space alien or some such thing. It's too silly and too weird to be worth trying to figure out. At one point, before getting it on with Dyanna and Melissa, he launches into a surreal diatribe in which he says something about “matter makes up only a fraction of the universe. ” Is this supposed to get us turned on? Fifteen more sex-free minutes of the movie close out the storyline, but it's so foolish and incomprehensible you wonder why they bothered.

The film is shot in various locations and doesn't have that weekend-in-a-motel look of your low-budget porn flick, and the cinematography is decent. The sound quality of our VHS edition was very poor, alternating between being inaudible and being gratingly loud.

We understand that nobody watches a porno flick for the dialogue, but why have it -- and so much of it, for cryin' out loud -- if you can't even hear it? Or understand what the heck's going on even when you can hear it? It seems as though this movie is trying to tell a story and build up eroticism by creating situations of dramatic tension. We're all in favor of that -- we like story-driven porn if it's done well -- but this one fails to deliver. Especially given the hype around this feature, touted as “one of the best adult films ever” and all that, we were really expecting more.

Melissa Hill. She's intense, very sexy. Tricia is a tasty treat too. Dyanna is very beautiful, but her gravity-defying surgically-enhanced figure kinda creeped us both out a bit.

The insipid dialogue. The stupid story line (such as it is) and overall pretentious weirdness attempt to make it sexy, but they really detract from the eroticism more than anything. And why, oh why does EVERY scene have to end in a facial?

We give it a This feature will disappoint both couples and raincoaters alike.
